Application Form details and Exam Pattern

As per the SSC web portal, official notification will come somewhere in September 2017 and application forms will be open afterward. The exam will be held between 30th Jan and 5th Feb.

Application Form
Candidates need to navigate the official web Portal of SSC to apply. Therein, candidates have to select the GD-Constable tab and fill out the form. You need to pay the fees to continue the registration and once the fee is paid, candidates can take the copy. Candidates need to upload their scanned passport-size photos and scanned signature with proper size to complete the registration. The online fee for GEN and OBC is Rs. 50 and for SC/ST/PWD, it’s free of cost.


Exam Pattern
The SSC Constable examination will be conducted in three stages, which are Physical standard and Efficiency Test, Written examination and lastly Medical Test. The written exam is objective type and will have 100 questions each carrying one mark and 0.25 negative score.

Time Limit and Question Pattern
The exam duration will be off 2 hours and will have four sections each of 25 questions. The sections for the written test are General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and Awareness, Elementary Mathematics and English/Hindi section.
In Physical standard and Efficiency Tests (PST & PET), candidates will have to run for given distance in limited time. For boys, it’s 5Km in 24 minutes and for girls, it’s 1.6 Km in 8 minutes.
In the medical test, the candidate will undergo several medical tests related to eyes, and visual correction is not allowed in the test. The candidates having vision mentioned in the guidelines will be selected.
The syllabus for a written test usually includes topics studied till tenth class. Logical questions related to Visual memory, Coding and Decoding, Spatial Visualization are asked. It will also test the Candidate’s knowledge of current affairs, history, geography, economics, politics, etc. Mathematical topics include problems related to Time & Work, Profit Loss, Discount, Ratio, and Proportions, etc. The language section tests the candidate’s understanding of language and comprehension.

Selection Procedure

If the candidates clear the PST and PET tests, they will sit for the written test. After giving the written test examination, they will appear for final medical tests and will later for document authentication.
