SSC CGL Examination – Do’s and Don’t's

SSC CGL Examination – Do’s and Don’t's
Staff Selection Commission conducts CGL exam every year to recruit young graduates for different government posts. The exam basically has a structure of 4 tiers, held over a course of a year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a few major changes in the pattern as the Tier C and Tier D won’t be having interview rounds and introduced online written tests. The idea of online examination is difficult for those who aren’t much familiar with computer and online exams. The pattern has also been altered to an extent so the preparations have to be changed accordingly if a candidate wishes to score high in the exam.

Here are a few Do’s and Don’t's for the candidates
  • There will be 100 Questions for the first phase of the exam (Tier 1) covering four papers viz. General Intelligence and Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and English Comprehension.
  • There is a strict time limit of 60 minutes to complete the paper so it is advised to utilize the time wisely and read the questions carefully.
  • After clearing two tiers of online tests, the candidate has to give an offline test in either English or Hindi, in 60 minutes. This 100 marks test should be taken seriously as it will test the candidate’s writing and language skills.
  • The candidates should attempt mock-tests prior final exam to gain confidence with computers based online exams. They should have a clear idea of the pattern and should solve previous year papers.

  • Don’t be afraid of the new exam pattern and practice as much as possible with computer based examinations.
  • SSC is very strict regarding cheating so candidates are advised not to bring any electronic devices, writing materials, watches, calculators, etc at the center.
  • Don’t forget the time limit and don’t waste much time on a single problem. Try to solve numerous problems in lesser time to score better.
  • Don’t guess the answers because wrong answers will be marked negatively.
