                             SSC CGL vs. PSU

Both the jobs ensure social status and respect if that’s your main concern. Both are reputed government career options and millions of candidates peruse these jobs with dedication and hard work. Finally, it comes down to the individual’s interests and passion and how he or she wishes to shape their future. Let’s discuss both the career options separately and understand the difference between SSC CGL and PSU.

SSC is regarded as a pure government job, which offers job stability, and a better job security compared to PSU jobs. If you are looking for higher status, and authoritative position in a job, then you should opt for SSC jobs. PSU jobs might help you in earning a little more money, but you won’t be able to attain the same amount of authoritative control as an SSC jobs.

Public Sector Undertaking Jobs

Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are basically those companies which are owned by central /state governments or by an individual owner. The most common route of PSU selection is through GATE exam as most of the PSUs hire candidates on the basis of GATE score, followed by a one to one Interview. PSU companies include big names such as NTPC, BARC, BHEL, BPCL, Cabinet Secretariat, GAIL, NTPC, OIL etc.
For a fresh graduate, there are more than 2000 jobs available in engineering in major PSUs in India. One must also consider other factors before pursuing a career in PSUs. There is a comparatively slower growth rate of salary and there are chances where you might have to face corruption issues in some way. PSU jobs are not purely governmental jobs too and the work environment is very much like private companies.

SSC Combined Graduate Level

SSC conducts this popular exam every year to recruit staff for various Group B and C posts in departments, ministries, and organizations of the government of India. When compared to PSUs, SSC provides a better lifestyle and work-life balance. It’s a government job and selected candidate do not need to worry about job security.
Times are changing and more engineers are shifting towards SSC CGL exam, and it makes more sense because the expectations from the employee in CGL are lower than PSUs. Employees do not need to chase targets and make profits. Government jobs also provide an upper authority and respect compared to private ones.
